as soon as i saw the autonomous design by gymnerd i was very impressed. i thought i could use it for my own site but i wanted it to be xhtml and css compliant, in syntax and semantics. so ive converted this as close as i could get to perfect using xhtml1-strict and css2. however one small bug exists in ie which is the cause for the @import trick to fix the bug. apart from that its as close as i can see to pure conformance.

 of course all credit goes to adam partika (gymnerd) for the design which is very nice. ive made some small adaptations to suit my own needs but it is essentially the same design and layout. while i could have implemented the shadow effect using no images, it would have involved a lot of divs and taken away from the semantic compliance so i decided to leave it out.
