  • Meeting 2008 - Advance program information
    After the plannings for this year's meeting (23th and 24th of August 2008) had started a few weeks ago (as we reported), we can finally publish first procedure aspects. As usual there will also be a kick-off event on friday evening (the 22th) this time. We won't have a private barbeque this time though, but move a little and indulge in the wines of Bingen from a winemaker afterwards.

  • PostNuke 0.8 RC4 Released
    The PostNuke team is pleased to announce the release of RC4. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen upgrade issues we have had to announce another release candidate to ensure move to the central categories system runs as smoothly as possible. We hope that there will only be a short gap between this RC and the final release, we do not recommend using RC versions on a live website.   • PostNuke Trac - NOC Replacement
    It's nice to be able to announce, that following our numerous problems with GForge at the NOC over the last year the replacement solution that we promised is ready to go. Chris Hildebrandt, known as slam on the forums has been hard at work for a number of months producing a trac installation on which third party developers can host their PostNuke projects. Some of you may not be familiar with Trac. Taken straight from the Trac website - "Trac is an enhanced wiki and issue tracking system for software development projects... It provides an interface to Subversion, an integrated Wiki and convenient reporting facilities."

  • Security Announcement: PostSchedule 1.0.5 SQL injection vulnerability
    The calendar module PostSchedule is vulnerable for a SQL injection. Some sites have already been hacked after the public announcement of the exploit on milw0rm.com last week.

  • GSoC Interview: Mathieu Prevel
    As mentioned in our previous article on the Summer of Code, we're hoping to publish an interview with each of our SoC students for this year. This is the first in the series, with Mathieu Prevel, who will be undertaking the revisions control project. 1. Please tell us a little about yourself: your name, where you come from, what you study and where you attend university. Perhaps you run a website or have an interesting hobby? My name is Mathieu. I am 21 student and I live in South of France in a little (very small) town "La Canourgue". I am studying water management and in the future I would like to create softwares about water management, water supply, or any linked to water treatments. My website is a game in PHP http://www.NeorgGenesyS.fr. I am interested in Linux, PHP, C, (x)HTML, CSS, JavaScript and all kinds to program. I like flyfishing and sports.     As mentioned in our previous article on the Summer of Code, we're hoping to publish an interview with each of our SoC students for this year. This is the third in the series, with Carlos Mauro, who will be undertaking the usability project. 1. Please tell us a little about yourself: your name, where you come from, what you study and where you attend university. Perhaps you run a website or have an interesting hobby? My name is Carlos Mauro Cárdenas Fernández. My from is Perú and i live in Lima. I'm studing Engineering Systems in the National University of Engineering (www.uni.edu.pe). I am studying the tenth cycle. I'm course the tenth cycle. I am doing my thesis topic regarding the usability of software. I am a member of the association of Peruvian Free Software APESOL. I participated also as president of the organization of the Festival of Latin American Free Software Installation in 2006. I also like make hack as issues at a time when I did something VoIP, streaming, CdLive, and others. I always liked the theme of web development as well as aesthetics. So usability is a subject that interested me. I also like the systems engineering, important to understand the complexity of life.     As mentioned in our previous article on the Summer of Code, we're hoping to publish an interview with each of our SoC students for this year. This is the second in the series, with John Pritchard, who will be undertaking the categories project. 1. Please tell us a little about yourself: your name, where you come from, what you study and where you attend university. Perhaps you run a website or have an interesting hobby? My name is John Pritchard and I'm currently in my second year of a Maths and Computer Science BSc at Bristol University in the UK. I'm originally from Newport in South Wales (only about 30 mins away from my university but far enough from home so that my parents don't constantly visit me :P). At the moment, the only website I run is the Bristol Real Ale Society website (http://www.bristolrealale.co.uk/) but the society is suffering a bit at the moment because a lot of people only signed up for the cheap booze rather than for social events (though I can't say I blame them lol). My name’s Daniel Byrd, I’m currently approaching the end of my second year of a computer science degree at Oxford University England. Ironically, my mentor is doing the same but at Cambridge (Simon Birtwistle [HammerHead]), so I think that settles once and for all any rivalry the universities have ever had in the past.   • Google Summer of Code Projects Announced
    I'm glad to report that Google has announced the projects accepted for the Summer of Code 2008. PostNuke has had four students allocated, who are undertaking projects from our ideas page: a new search module, categories module changes, usability enhancements and a revisions control system. We hope to publish a short interview with each student over the next few days. Meanwhile, today marks the start of the community bonding period, which students should use to get to know the project and what makes PostNuke so great. Please make them feel welcome. The four students accepted are Daniel Byrd, Carlos Fernandez, Prevel Mathieu and John Pritchard. You can read the abstracts of the project proposals on the Google SoC website.

    There's a lot going on at the moment which is not visible to everybody. I would like to summarize some of the developments in this article.

  • OpenID for PostNuke
    OpenID, the free decentralized indentity and Single Sign On system, is now available for PostNuke. You can use it for doing Single Sign On between all your websites - and even manage secure and restricted access to closed websites via OpenID identities.

  • Meeting 2008 - Announcement and invitation
    This year the German PostNuke association is arranging a meeting which happens in late summer as usual. After Frank Schummertz (landseer) has already organized all four pnMeetings, I have the honour of scheduling the first meeting under the new name. Both users and developers alike are openly invited to become acquainted with each other and exchange experiences about their past and future work with our favourite framework.

  • PostNuke Bugfix Weekend
    One last push to PostNuke .8 The development team have scheduled one more bug fix weekend to eliminate the final bugs in the bug tracker before we release .8 final. The date is this weekend - the 29th and 30th of March. A Skype chat will be created, and developers and testers alike are invited and encouraged to participate in the weekend. Bug fix weekends create a collaborative environment in which both those who can code, and those who are simply users of PostNuke work together to find, fix and test for bugs. The last weekends have fixed over a hundred bugs, both large and small between them. A similar effort this week will lead to the final release of PostNuke .8. So, we invite you to join us.   • PostNuke to Participate in Google Summer of Code 2008
    The PostNuke Steering Committee is pleased to announce the project has been accepted into the Google Summer of Code (SoC) this year. This represents a significant step forward for the project in an exciting year at PostNuke. We intend to use the SoC to push the project's development forward following the final release of .8 and the unveiling of our new identity. There are a number of proposed projects on our ideas page that we hope will interest and excite students. This is an excellent opportunity for the team to get some of the large projects we have planned for future versions implemented quickly.

  • Calling International Community Webmasters
    In preparation for the rebranding of PostNuke under the system's new name, the Steering Committee are looking to get in contact with all international community webmasters. The PostNuke Software Foundation has purchased the domains for all major international communities, and are we are looking to assign these domains to well established community support websites. If you currently run an international support website, we ask that you contact the Steering Committee (use the contact form

  • MediaAttach RC 1 released
    Everything began with pnUpper which asserted it's claim to centralize any functionality for file uploads. Particularly of security reasons everything being upload-related should be treated at one single place in the system. With the successor MediaAttach a technically matured module is available in the meantime, the focus changed gradually on file management and integration. Now the first release candidate for the initial version has been released based on technologies in .8 completely.

    This is the first development update issue in 2008, after almost a year absence.   • Test PostNuke 0.8 and Intraweb 2.0
    In the website http://phobos.xtec.cat/intradv you can test PostNuke 0.8 and all the modules available in it. The registered users can change in any moment their group or role and test all functionalities almost as administrators.

  • Going OpenID
    Are you tired of remembering all those passwords for your different websites? Or would you like to be able to sign a weblog comment securely - without others being able to spoof it? Maybe you should get yourself a shining new online identity using OpenID.

  • Url rewriting on Postnuke 0.8
    Pn 0.8 is full of good surprises, especially in the case of the url rewriting which has been entirely reworked. Thus Postnuke offers several methods in order to help us to make urls more attractives.

  • PostNuke 0.8 RC3 Released
    The PostNuke team is pleased to announce the release of RC3, following an extended period of bug fixing on RC2, released late last year. This release includes well over 100 bug fixes over RC2, which was tested extensively by the community. The development team feels that, barring any unforseen issues this release will be the last before 0.8 final. As this is the final RC before 0.8 is released, we request that as many people as possible test this build for bugs. However, do not use this release on a live website as it is not production ready. RC builds are unsupported in a live environment.

  • Short Status Update
    It took us a little longer than intended after the bug-fixing weekend to hunt down the strange date issue during some upgrades from 764.

  • Intraweb project towards version 2.0
    A group of programmers and teachers have been working in the Intraweb project for some time. The aim of this project is to make a powerful communicational system for schools which at the same time offer teachers and students some utilities that make easy working with Information Technologies. The result of our work is an intranet ideal for schools, that can be used in other areas, and it is based on PostNuke. A lot of schools in Catalonia are using this intranet.

  • SEO for postnuke
    By default, postnuke is not optimized for SEO, but you can easily customize it in order to increase your rank in the search engine. Indeed, multiples officials and unofficial plugins have been created in order to help you for that purpose. Note that, this tips could be outdated in the future. :) i will talk only about intern SEO, this tips can help your SEO, but can not "decrease" your rank (that's not dark SEO)

  • A Warm Welcome to Our Newest Member, Mateo Tibaquirá Palacios
    The PostNuke team would like to announce its newest member. Many of you know him as nestormateo on the PostNuke forums where he has been very active. Lately, he has been active sharing ideas and concepts on the development of our software. He has been helping with bugs, patches, and general quality of the project. Mateo has been sharing and contributing both publicly and behind the scenes. All of us are very glad to have him aboard. For his introduction, we decided to conduct an interview and it is my honor to have conducted it, as a friend and colleague.
