This is my first go at making a joomla site

Template used:
*Site Template -Technopia - Rocket Theme
*Admin Template -Essential Plazza Black (super snazzy)

Joomla version used: 1.0.12 - [Sunfire]

Site description: The science department at my college ask me to make a website for them. I decided to use Joomla. It will be a basic template with mainly uploaded content on it relateing to the science i.e. exam papers (pdf format)

Site URL: http://www.smcscience.co.uk

Screenshot:

Feedback: Welcome

Components:
*BMI - Body Mass Index - measures if you are obese, underweight or normal

*BSQ Stats - a great little stats component with flash charts as well as normal stats

*Community Builder - great little profile addon with phpconnector bridge to a phpbb forum

*DOCman - a download and upload manager for frontend

*jAwards - a great medals and awards system - you can make your own

*JoomlaLib - required for BSQ stats

*JoomlaPack - A great and easy backup for the site

*JoomlaXplorer - A backend file manager, great if your file permissions are causing problems during FTP (i used it to upload my own avatars as FTP didnt work)

Modules:
*Google translation module - 8 language transators, a nice addon for a bit of internationism on any site

*Graphical Visitor Counter - a simple geometric style hit counter (requires statistics in config file to be one

*Latest Topics - a frontend module to show the latest topics in your phpbb forum (similar in style to latest news - default joomla style)

*ROCLatest News - Rocket Theme Latest News, an interactive news module with a nice slider. Adds that professional look

Mambots:
*Editors: I tried the WysiwygPro editor but wasnt impressed. I installed the TMEdit editor and had the same functionality but was identical in style to Microsoft Word, which is great for the other admins have limited computer knowledge

Graphics:
I used the school logo and added some text to it and gave it a digital reflection look (i hope lol) I also designed the banner as well. I distributed the edit logo to each Static Content page

Forum:
*Software - phpbb
*Integration - No, separate page
*Bridge - Community Builder - phpconnector
*Template - Terayon v2

Hi Muffin. Nice site! Looks very professional. Wow, there is a BMI component for Joomla I'm going to have to try it out.

Thanks for listing all the components and modules you used. Very useful info.

I've got a question about the BSQ stats component. Are you able to select certain stats to be displayed publicly? I've been thinking I'd like to publicly display the browser statistics, monitor pixel dimensions etc on ThemeBot. I haven't found a way to do this with Google analytics yet.

A couple of small suggestions. On the Google translation module, if you could have English go back to the home page rather than starting the flash intro again, that would be good. Also, there are some spelling and grammar errors on the General Updates section. These should be corrected since it is the first thing people read when they visit the site.

Great job!

Thanks for the feedback. I should really start checking for english errors

When i click the English translation module, it goes to the index.php page (i use IE 7).

The basic BSQ component doesnt have frontend modules but i believe you can download them separately from this link (somewhere on it )

I think on page 2 there is a frontend module

Hmm. The english translation wasn't working for me because of some script blocking in firefox. It works fine now.
